It’s believed that the Minnesota Timberwolves are already leaning towards drafting Jahlil Okafor over Karl-Anthony Towns

Well the NBA Draft Lottery is over and the Minnesota Timberwolves hold the No. 1 pick next month in the NBA Draft. And already, it’s being made pretty clear that Jahlil Okafor might be the pick they make when the time comes.

According to Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report, the team is already expressing their opinion that they prefer Duke center Jahlil Okafor over Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns, the man that people believe can also make a solid run to be selected first overall.

While Towns is an outstanding player, the fact of the matter is that taking Okafor might make all the sense in the world. With their up-and-coming back court featuring the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins and the ever-versatile Zach LaVine, plus the returning Ricky Rubio, this team needs a strong presence on the inside. As we saw throughout the college basketball season last year, there might not be a more dominant force on the inside than Okafor.

Of course, with the Timberwolves just being awarded the pick, there is still a lot of time left for them to evaluate both players and see which fit they believe would be better. Karl-Anthony Towns isn’t a slouch on the inside by any means, plus he’s a tad better at moving out and hitting the jumper.

But for now, it’s looking like Okafor is stuck in their heads.
