The Denver Nuggets need a lot of work this offseason to rebound from their miserable season last year, and trading Ty Lawson could be on the trading block as a result.

Last year was a bad year for the Denver Nuggets by any standard. They were an awful team to watch, barely showed up at all and pawned off their major pieces in an effort to shed salary cap obligations and to amass future draft picks.

Part of that plan worked, but the other half of that plan involves making the team better out of what was acquired, and that’s the hard part. For the Nuggets, it still seems that addition by subtraction is the route to go.

According to Mark Kiszla of The Denver Post, the Nuggets will more than likely try to trade everyone outside of franchise cornerstones Jusuf Nurkic and Danilo Gallinari — which seemingly includes Ty Lawson.

The Nuggets hit a new ow last season when they basically gave up in the middle of the year and started counting down to the end of the season. This cost head coach Brian Shaw his job and it’s something that is causing a franchise overhaul.

Denver was on the cusp a few years ago when George Karl won Coach of the Year, but the real problems began that summer when he was fired. Some say that a ‘difference in opinion’ is what led to the firing, but you don’t fire a coach who brought you to the postseason and won Coach of the Year.

We’re seeing what happens when you fire a good head coach to try to find a better one — take note, Chicago.

The Nuggets have the pieces to get better in the future, but they’ve messed this up before and having a fire sale where everyone is traded has as much a chance go blowing up in their face as it does working out in the end.
