2015 Indianapolis 500 starting grid
Sunday marks the 99th running of the Indianapolis 500, and Scott Dixon will be on the pole as the race begins.
For the 33-driver field, this year is as good as any for someone new to step up and win the Indianapolis 500.
With the greatest spectacle in racing set to take place for the 99th time on Sunday, Scott Dixon will be on the pole as the race gets underway.
It won’t be easy either for Dixon as he has a bunch of strong drivers behind him looking to capture the glory and fame of winning the Indianapolis 500 behind him.
Will Power has been a popular pick by many to take this year’s race and he will line up second behind Dixon. Behind Dixon and Power is the dangerous trio of Simon Pagenaud, Tony Kanaan and Helio Castroneves. Marco Andretti, has come close to winning before, but has yet to capture the fame of winning the Indianapolis 500. He will be starting in eighth and will no doubt be a factor in this race.
James Hinchcliffe suffered a serious injury in practice this week when the front rocker pierced his upper thigh. Fortunately, Hinchcliffe is recovering, but Ryan Briscoe will be driving in place for him. With the switch in place, Briscoe will be starting at the back of the pack by rule.
