Whether you are a member of the crowd or standing in the on-deck circle, always be aware of what is happening during a baseball game.

The Milwaukee Brewers are having a May for the ages. With their record sitting at 7-18 on May 4th, the Brewers became the first team to fire and replace their manager. On May 21st, the Brewers had reliever Will Smith ejected from a game for having a foreign substance on his arm.  Now this:

You just saw Gerardo Parra check his swing. The ball still hits his bat and gets sent down the third base line. More specifically, the ball gets sent directly at the on-deck circle where teammate Carlos Gomez has to do some fancy footwork to avoid being beaned.

The evil eye Gomez shoots toward his teammate is the stuff made of legends. The combination of knowing it was completely unintentional and still wanting lay down a beating. When I watched the video a second time, knowing that Gomez escaped injury, I shouted “ole” as the ball whizzed by him.

Neither Parra or Gomez would collect a hit during yet another loss for the NL Central cellar dwellers. Oh well, at least the Brewers still have the “sausage races”.
