Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer had some pretty strong words on Adrian Peterson on Wednesday

The standoff between Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings has been quite fascinating to watch since his reinstatement to the NFL, and even before that. With the star running back refusing to report back to the team and the Vikings not having anything to do with a trade, there’s quite the sticky situation here.

However, some people still want to pick through the whole ordeal with a fine-tooth comb, trying to find some sort of hidden loophole in all of this. But on Wednesday while speaking to the media, head coach Mike Zimmer made it pretty crystal clear what’s the end-game here is.

Really, that’s what it all boils down to and we all know that. There is no secret trade in the works that’s going to blindside us all within the next month or so. It’s really as simple as Peterson either gets back into his backfield in Minnesota, or he’ll be sitting on his couch the entire winter. Since he’s already missed one year of football last season with his suspension for alleged child abuse, two years on the sidelines would do no one good. No one in the situation would come out victorious. Not the Vikings nor Peterson himself.

This is yet another chapter in the saga that is Adrian Peterson vs the Minnesota Vikings, but sooner or later something has to give. And I think Zimmer laid down the law down pretty thick here on Wednesday.
