After dropping a tough one on Tuesday to the Michigan Wolverines, the Florida Gators Softball team came into Wednesday night’s Game 3 with one more chance to repeat as the champions of the Women’s College World Series. Well, the pressure was not too tough for these ladies, as they were able to come away with the 4-1 win and their second consecutive national title.
The real MVP for the Gators in clinching that second title on Wednesday night was Lauren Haeger on the mound, who went the distance in this one and stifled the Michigan batters all night long. By the time was all said and done in this one, Haeger went seven innings while giving up just five hits with one earned run and one walk. It was exactly the performance that the Gators needed on the mound in this one.
Michigan put up a fight in this final series, especially with that gritty 1-0 win on Tuesday night, but they didn’t have enough in the end to take down the champs. Congratulations are in order once again for the Florida Gators ladies.
Here’s a look at a few of the highlights from the Gators’ monumental win over Michigan on Wednesday night in Oklahoma City.
