The NCAA Softball Tournament wraps up with the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. How many teams will face off there?

The Women’s College World Series is a fascinating event that helps bring about the close of the NCAA Softball Tournament. There are a number of teams that get a shot at competing in the NCAA Softball Tournament, but ultimately only a few will advance all the way on to the Women’s College World Series.

Of course, that’s how all tournament progress. There are a large number of teams that compete in the tournament and then a large number of teams end up getting eliminated.

So, just how many NCAA softball teams will make it to the Women’s College World Series?

How many teams compete in the Women’s College World Series?

Though there are 64 teams that make it into the NCAA Softball Tournament on an annual basis, there aren’t very many that would make it all the way to the WCWS. Of the 64 teams that compete in Regionals, just 16 advance on to the Super Regionals. From there, just eight teams will have the chance to compete in the Women’s College World Series.

Where is the Women’s College World Series held?

Each and every year, the WCWS takes place in Oklahoma City. The event is held at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium – OGE Energy Field and the event has been in OKC since 1990. The only year it wasn’t hosted there during the past 32 years happened back in 1996.
