Twins rookie Byron Buxton scores winning run in first game (Video)

The Minnesota Twins rolled out top prospect Byron Buxton on Sunday and he was well worth the wait.
When the Minnesota Twins drafted Byron Buxton not that long ago, he was touted as being perhaps the best prospect of his draft class. Being the conservative team that they are when it comes to their farm system, the Twins let Buxton marinate in the minors before allowing him to make his MLB debut on Sunday afternoon in Texas.
The wait was well worth it.
Buxton didn’t show up and hit a home run in his first at-bat, instead what he contributed was much more realistic and meaningful. In the top of the ninth inning of a tied game against the Rangers, Buxton scored the eventual winning run to give the Twins a 4-3 win.
In his first MLB game, Byron Buxton avoided going bust and instead scored the game-winning run to put the Twins past the Rangers.
Buxton has played just one game in his career and that’s hardly anything to judge him on. If we’re being truly cynical, Buxton didn’t even bat in the winning run and merely managed to stay on base to be a factor. But he played it by the book and won, and that’s what all baseball teams want their prospects to do.
