The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly interested in trading for Danilo Gallinari.

The Memphis Grizzlies appear to be a part of the movers and shakers crowd in the lead up Thursday’s NBA Draft. On Thursday morning Memphis traded Luke Ridnour and his non-guaranteed deal to Charlotte in exchange for forward Matt Barnes. Not but a few hours later ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that the Grizzlies are also interested in Denver forward Danilo Gallinari.

Memphis is looking to desperately balance a roster that ranked second in two-point field goal attempts a year ago, but 29th in three-point attempts. Outside of Mike Conley, the Grizzlies didn’t have a player who attempted more than 4 triples per game. Conley also led the team in three-pointers, averaging 1.5 per game.

In Gallinari the Grizzlies would get a 6’10” forward who can stretch defenses and play a solid face-up game. He averages roughly 5 threes per game and would give Memphis an offensive weapon from a position that was sorely lacking last year (Dino had a 40 and 47-point game within a month of each other towards the backend of last season).

Gallinari is an injury risk, having played 70+ games in a season only twice in his career, however perhaps he can be saved from some wear and tear, thanks Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol protecting the paint. He’ll likely be more of a spot-up, stretch 3.
