The MLB Trade Deadline is fast approaching, and Jeff Samardzija could be on the move again.

Next: 5 Teams Who Might Shape MLB Trade Deadline

Last season a Chicago baseball team decided to cash in on the interest in starter Jeff Samardzija and trade him away for future assets. A year later and the other baseball team in Chicago is starting to warm to the idea of trading Samardzija away.

There’s not being able to catch a break and then there’s being Jeff Samardzija.

According to the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo, the Royals, Astros and Tigers are among a handful of teams looking at possibly trading for White Sox starter Jeff Samardzija at the deadline.

"Kansas City, Houston, Detroit, and others are in on him.Scouts are constantly at his games so he may be the first starting pitcher moved ahead of the trading deadline."

Moreover, Cafardo notes that Samardzija could be the first pitcher moved before the deadline arrives, something he was last year too. The Cubs traded their ace away days before the deadline arrived and in return received Addison Russell, a prospect who is now a starting infielder and cornerstone of the club’s future.

That’s something the south side Sox have to be witnessing and thinking about when it comes to interest in Samardzija.

There’s no guarantee that he will be dealt before the deadline. However, if the White Sox continue to tumble in the American League, then moving a prized offseason acquisition to save face might be the move that has to be made.

Chicago needs to figure out if they’re going all in on contending or if they’re content on selling what assets they have to recoup losses and build a winner for 2016.
