For the past few years if there is one match up that fans have been clamoring for in college football, it’s the Florida State Seminoles taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide. People have been waiting to see these two titans of this decade go head-to-head with each other, and they won’t have to wait that much longer.

In an official release on Thursday it was announced that Florida State and Alabama will meet one another to start off the 2017 college football season in the annual Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.

Alabama and Florida State have been two of the most dominant programs of this entire decade, with Alabama claiming two national championships and Florida State laying claim to one. Because of their dominance on the field and on the recruiting trail, plus their similar pro-style of play, this has been a dream match up for the national championship. This game obviously isn’t for the national title, but just seeing the match up finally take place is good enough for most folks at this point.

We can only hope that the structure of these programs stay in place for the next two seasons, especially at the top. But Nick Saban doesn’t seem poised to move anywhere anytime soon, and Jimbo Fisher seems pretty content at Florida State. So, this game should be everything that we expect of it and then some when it finally happens in September of 2017 in Atlanta.
