The Oregon quarterback plans for this year might be up in the air with the news that Vernon Adams may not have graduated in the spring

Heading into the 2015 college football season, the Oregon Ducks seemed to have the perfect plan in place to replace the dynamic Marcus Mariota at the quarterback position. To cover for the loss of the Heisman winner, the program brought in graduate transfer Vernon Adams from Eastern Washington, who may help this Oregon offense not miss a beat this upcoming year.
Well, here’s the issue that might be at hand: Adams might not be a “graduate” transfer after all, because he apparently never really graduated from Eastern Washington in the spring to begin with.
According to a report from the Oregonian, while Adams did walk with the class during the graduation ceremony this past spring, he did admit that he had a few requirements to hit this summer before he could officially be named a graduate. Well, according to Eastern Washington, Adams did not meet the necessary requirements and therefore did not actually graduate. Of course, it goes without saying that if you want to play as a graduate transfer at a large school, you have to, you know — graduate. Adams did not do this.
With just a few weeks to go until the season gets underway, this is not a problem that Oregon wants, as Adams was indeed expected to step into the starting role. Last season for Eastern Washington, Adams threw for 3,483 yard with 35 touchdowns and he rushed for 285 yards with an additional six scores.
There still could be some time for Adams to make up the necessary work, but he might be hitting the deadline to enroll in Oregon graduate school, which he needs to do to get on the football field for the Ducks.
UPDATE:
Fox’s Bruce Feldman is reporting that he’s been told Adams is finishing up the requirements this week and should be on a good track to get to Eugene.
Re: #Oregon grad transfer: I'm told by a source close to Vernon Adams he is finishing up a math class in the next week or so as was planned.
