All of the teams are eligible for the big tournaments on FanDuel tonight, which gives us many choices. Do you spend on the big hitters, or are there several guys under $3,000 who can help you win some money? Let’s see what the prior stats say!

More from FanDuel

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science.

Here are my FanDuel hitter picks for July 21:

Next: First Up: Corner Infielders

Jul 14, 2015; Cincinnati, OH, USA; American League third baseman Manny Machado (13) of the Baltimore Orioles hits an RBI double against the National League during the seventh inning of the 2015 MLB All Star Game at Great American Ball Park. Mandatory Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

First Base:

Best Bet:

Billy Butler, Athletics ($3,200): Butler has a long history of success off of Mark Buehrle. Butler is 22 for 67 (.328) with four walks, four doubles, three homers, and a whopping 17 RBI off of the veteran left hander. You could get some serious production at a reasonable price from Butler tonight.

Honorable Mention:

Prince Fielder, Rangers ($4,400): Fielder has only faced Kyle Kendrick seven times, but he has come up with two walks, three hits, a homer, and five RBI. Use Prince with confidence if you don’t trust Butler.

Stay Away:

Joey Votto, Reds ($3,600): Votto is just 2 for 14 in his career off of Jason Hammel. There is too much risk involved at his price.

  • Third Base:

    Best Bet:

Manny Machado, Orioles ($4,400): Machado has only faced Nate Eovaldi five times, but he has two walks and a solo home run off of him. Advantage: Machado!

    Honorable Mention:

Nick Castellanos, Tigers ($2,400): Castellanos has only played one game against Taijuan Walker, but he was one for two with a two run home run off of him. If you don’t want to spend on Machado, Castellanos could provide about the same production.

    Next: Up Next: Middle Infield

Jul 19, 2015; Oakland, CA, USA; Oakland Athletics first baseman Mark Canha (20) rounds third to score a run on a double by second baseman Ben Zobrist (not pictured) against the Minnesota Twins during the third inning at O.co Coliseum. Mandatory Credit: Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

    Second Base:

    Best Bet:

Ben Zobrist, Athletics ($2,900): Zobrist is 11 for 30 (.367) with a walk, a double, a homer, and five RBI off of Mark Buehrle. He is the best bet across the middle infield tonight.

    Honorable Mention:

Jimmy Paredes, Orioles ($2,700): Paredes has the same exact stats off of Nate Eovaldi that Manny Machado does. Five plate appearances, two walks and a solo home run. Paredes could be worth the gamble at this price.

    Best Bet:

Alexi Amarista, Padres ($2,200): Amarista has had problems cracking the lineup lately, so make sure he is in the lineup first before using. We sure hope he is. Amarista is 4 for 8 with a double and two RBI off of Chris Heston. He could provide some cheap points if he plays.

    Honorable Mention:

Ian Desmond, Nationals ($2,200): He only has two hits in eight at bats off of Jacob deGrom, but one of those is a three run homer. If you are chasing homers, Desmond is worth the risk at his price.

    Stay Away:

Jimmy Rollins, Dodgers ($2,300): Rollins is a meager 1 for 17 off of Alex Wood. If you are looking for cheap points, look elsewhere.

Next: Who Are The Best Of The Rest?

Jul 20, 2015; Anaheim, CA, USA; Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Mike Trout (27) runs the bases after hitting a solo home run against the Boston Red Sox during the fifth inning at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Mandatory Credit: Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

    Catcher:

    Best Bet:

Caleb Joseph, Orioles ($2,500): The O’s are still giving Matt Wieters regular rest. This would be a good day to at least DH Wieters and put Joseph in the lineup. He is 4 for 5 with a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Nate Eovaldi. Just make sure he is in the lineup before using Joseph. I’m hoping that the Orioles play him because he will be a nice, cheap source of points.

    Honorable Mention:

Wellington Castillo, Diamondbacks ($2,900): Castillo is 4 for 8 in his career off of Mat Latos, but the only counting stat that he has is one lone RBI. All of the hits are singles. Still, he could be a lock for two points.

    Stay Away:

Buster Posey, Giants ($4,400): Posey is 0 for 12 in his career off of Odrisamer Despaigne. It’s best to spend your money elsewhere tonight. This doesn’t appear to be a fluke.

    Best Bets:

Mike Trout, Angels ($5,200): Trout is 3 for 6 with two walks, a homer, and two RBI off of Kyle Gibson in his career. He is about as sure of a bet for points as you can find today.

Michael Bourn, Indians ($2,300): Bourn is an impressive 10 for 19 (.526) off of Matt Garza. However, he only has two walks and one RBI for counting stats. This does not count the steals he has racked up though. That makes him a great play in FanDuel’s format.

Brandon Moss, Indians ($2,900): Moss is 5 for 10 with a double and a solo home run off of Garza. The fact that Garza is likely going to be rusty today is just icing on the cake for those of us using Indians players.

Brett Gardner, Yankees ($4,100): Gardner’s 5 for 18 (.278) is not all that impressive, but what he has done with it is. Gardner has two walks, two doubles, a homer, and five RBI off of Wei-Yin Chen. He has had few issues hitting this left hander.

    Honorable Mention:

Shin-Soo Choo, Rangers ($3,800): Choo is only 3 for 11 (.273) off of Kyle Kendrick, but two of those three hits are home runs, and he has driven in four. He is slightly more valuable in DraftKings, but he is a suitable option in FanDuel as well.

Jay Bruce, Reds ($3,400): Bruce is 3 for 10 with a double, a homer, and four RBI off of Jason Hammel in his career. He could give you solid value tonight.

Gregor Blanco, Giants ($2,500): Blanco is 3 for 10 with a walk, a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Odrisamer Despaigne in his career. Blanco is about the only one that has had any success off of Despaigne so far.
