Cris Cyborg made a plea with the UFC and Ronda Rousey to make a fight happen for the fans on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Cris Cyborg joined ESPN’s SportsCenter for an interview during the noon hour and it got off to a bizarre start. Once things got rolling though it got somewhat more interesting, mainly as she discussed a potential super fight with UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

“This fight has to happen,” Cyborg said. “If the UFC thinks I don’t deserve this fight, don’t do it for me. Do it for all the fans.”

Cyborg is Invicta’s featherweight champion at 145 pounds, Rousey is the UFC’s bantamweight champion fighting at 135 pounds. After her UFC 190 win over Bethe Correia, Rousey was adamant that if Cyborg wants a fight she needs to make 135 pounds. UFC president Dana White has reiterated this sentiment.

Cyborg tried to explain that Rousey should move up or meet her at a catchweight.

“All the champions do this when you clean your division,” Cyborg said. “The champ goes up.”

The issue with that is that there is no 145-pound division in the UFC, would she be brought in for just the one fight?

At this point in time, Cyborg needs Rousey and not the other way around. The effect Rousey had on sports sites around the weekend during UFC 190 was impressive to say the least.

For instance, USA Today’s For The Win had 18 percent more traffic than they did during the fallout of the Super Bowl. That statistic is mindblowing.

Cyborg also said she is ready for the fight if it were to be made.

“I’m ready for this fight for a long time,” Cyborg said. “But if it don’t happen now, it won’t happen. If the UFC want to make this fight happen, they can make it happen. Tomorrow, I would take this fight. I’m ready.”
