The Carolina Panthers host the Buffalo Bills in the teams’ first preseason game of the season. The main story lines in this one are Cam Newton, the $100 million man, for the Panthers and Rex Ryan’s debut for the Bills.

All the front and back room negotiations are over and it’s now time to go to work. It’s officially put up or shut up time for Cam Newton. After signing one of the most lucrative deals in NFL history, Newton must prove that he’s worth the money. He’s been mostly up-and-down over his career, and if ever there was a time for consistency it’s now that there’s a $100 million albatross hanging around his neck.

In Upstate New York it’s Sexy Rexy time. Ryan takes over for a promising Bills team that looks to make a little noise in the AFC East. Matt Cassel will start for Buffalo in this game, with E.J. Manuel coming in as backup. The state stays the same, as does the QB story for Ryan, namely he doesn’t have one.
