Landon Collins goes down with apparent knee injury
The New York Giants had a porous defense in 2014. In the 2015 NFL Draft, general manager Jerry Reese tried to upgrade the unit by trading up to the first pick in the second round, taking Alabama Crimson Tide safety Landon Collins. Collins is supposed to be a big part of the defense, replacing veteran Antrel Rolle.

Suddenly, all of that might be in jeopardy. Collins was forced to leave the Giants’ preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals in the first half and did not return. At this point, it is uncertain how badly Collins was injured. However, we do know that the youngster does not have any broken bones, per the Giants official Twitter page.
There are multiple reports that Collins is back on New York’s sideline, something of a positive sign. It stands to reason that if Collins was injured badly, he would be getting some medical attention in the locker room. We will likely learn more on Saturday, with Collins likely to get an MRI.
If Collins is out for any length of time, the Giants will have some issues in the secondary. New York is in a division that features some of the best receivers in the game including Dez Bryant and DeSean Jackson.
As for the preseason contest, the Bengals scored on their first drive with a touchdown pass to Mohamed Sanu and are leading 10-7 in the second quarter.
