Maryland Terrapins quarterback Caleb Rowe steps into a world of hurt when a tackling dummy takes him down in practice.

If there is anything I learned from watching endless hours of Blue Mountain State, it is that the life of a college quarterback is a privileged one and that nothing can bring you down. Unless of course said quarterback trips over a practice dummy while having the session recorded.

Third-year quarterback Caleb Rowe is trying to make a good impression in preseason camp and possibly earn the starting role under center when the Maryland Terrapins begin their 2015 season on September 5th against the University of Richmond. However, he’s hoping that this recorded evidence isn’t the final part of the decision making process.

It was bad enough that Rowe got taken down by the sandbag on the ground, but then he had to relive the moment over and over again the film room, where this video was apparently shot. I’ll give him some credit, he hung unto the football. Also Rowe wins some points for trying to play it cool and be like, “I just did it to make Locks laugh (Coach Michael Locksley).” That wins him some serious points in my book because it brings me back a bit to my childhood.

Well, it wasn’t quite Blue Mountain State smooth, but it was a smooth play nonetheless for Caleb Rowe.

In three years under center for the Terps, Rowe has 13 games and thrown for 1,768 yards on 123-for-229 passing. He also has 12 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. While those numbers don’t necessarily breed confidence that he’ll earn a starting role, we wish him the best of luck nonetheless. Both in winning the job and in avoiding tackling dummies.
