Clemson Tigers football players are banned from all forms of social media during the football season.
According to a report from the USA Today, members of the Clemson Tigers football team are banned from social media during the season.
That means no more Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even Snapchat.
College football players these days were born in the 1990s and probably aren’t very familiar with life without social media. There are going to be a lot of moments when a second of boredom creeps in and they reach for their smartphones to mindlessly check social media almost as a built-in instinctual reaction.
“Every time I pull my phone out, the first thing I want to do is click on Instagram or Twitter or whatever,” said junior tight end Stanton Seckinger. “This ban takes that out of your head. It’s not that I don’t still have the urge, but I know I can’t do it, so it doesn’t occupy my thoughts. I don’t exactly love the ban, but I think it’s a great idea.”
The idea is to try and free their mind to focus on more important things, like football… and hopefully their classes.

Could this policy do more damage to Clemson’s recruiting? Possibly, according to one coach, via Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman:
Just got a text from a coach seeing this. "It's nuts. 'Come to Clemson. We'll treat you like you're 8 yrs old.'" https://t.co/On4Vh53Drv

On another note, you know there is someone out there whose sole job is to check up on Clemson football player’s social media accounts to make sure they’re inactive.
