Most of the action is in the night tournaments on this day. With 18 pitchers available, there are plenty of good and bad options. Letās take a look at which is which.

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science.
We will give the you best options whether you are looking so spend big on a pitcher, or to save some money and try to make it up with offense. Iāve got you covered!

Next: Who Is The Best High Priced Option?
Aug 18, 2015; Baltimore, MD, USA; New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom (48) throws a pitch in the third inning against the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Mandatory Credit: Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports
High Priced ($8,500 and up):
Best Bet:
Hisashi Iwakuma,Ā Mariners ($9,000):Ā Forget for a moment the fact that Iwakuma has only given up six runs in his last 31.2 innings pitched. He has also pitched very well against Oakland in his career. The Aās are 20 of 85 (.235) with two home runs and four RBI to 17 strikeouts. Coco Crisp did most of that damage with both of the homers and three of the RBI. Given as well as he is pitching and the past stats, Iwakuma is the most bang for your buck tonight.
Honorable Mention:
Jacob deGrom,Ā Mets ($11,700):Ā deGrom is $2,400 more expensive than anyone else, but he might be worth it. The Phillies are hitting only .250 off of him in 44 at bats with a homer, four RBI, and 13 strikeouts. Ryan Howard did most of that damage with a homer and three RBI, but he also owns four of the strikeouts. If you have the extra money, deGromās strikeout potential could have him being worth the extra dough.
Stay Away:
Jeff Samardzija,Ā White Sox ($9,300):Ā Given the fact that Samardzija has been more prone to the blowup than most pitchers his price and the Red Soxās history against him, I am steering clear of this one. The current Boston squad is hitting .307 off of him in 88 at bats with two homers and ten RBI. They do have 18 strikeouts, but with that many guys on base, there isnāt much margin for error. Pablo Sandoval does have both home runs and six of the RBI against him though.
Next: Is There A Mid Range Option That Could Perform Like An Ace?
Aug 7, 2015; Bronx, NY, USA; New York Yankees starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (30) pitches during the first inning against the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports
Mid Range Options ($6,600 ā $8,400):
Best Bet:
Nathan Eovaldi,Ā Yankees ($7,800):Ā Eovaldi has a lot of things going for him here. He has given up three or fewer earned runs in 10 of his last 11 starts, and is 8-0 in that span. He is also facing the free swinging Houston Astros, a team that he has had success against in his career so far. The Astros are only hitting .228 in 57 career at bats off Eovaldi with a homer, four RBI, and 14 strikeouts. He may give up a homer or two, but the chances are that he will have more than enough strikeouts to make that up, and he should have a shot at the win as well.
Honorable Mention:
Ubaldo Jimenez,Ā Orioles ($7,800):Ā Jimenez has done fairly well against the current Royals squad. They are hitting .227 off of him in 220 at bats with six homers and 20 RBI, but only 49 strikeouts. That said, he is facing Kris Medlen in his first start of the season. Medlen has not done well in limited at bats against the Orioles either, further enhancing Jimenezās value if you donāt trust Eovaldi against Houston.
Stay Away:
Scott Feldman,Ā Astros ($7,000):Ā Feldman has allowed a .290 average to the Yankees in 131 at bats with seven homers and 17 RBI. He does have 30 strikeouts, but given his mound opponent (Eovaldi) and the Yankeesā history against him, I donāt trust him.
Next: Is There A Low Priced Sleeper?
Aug 3, 2015; Oakland, CA, USA; Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Felix Doubront (53) throws a pitch against the Baltimore Orioles during the fifth inning at O.co Coliseum. Mandatory Credit: Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports
Cheap Options ($6,500 and under):
Best Bet:
Felix Doubront,Ā Athletics ($5,800):Ā Felix has had his share of ups and downs, mostly the latter, in his career, but he has a couple of things going for him tonight. He has allowed only two earned runs in his last two starts, notching a quality start in each of those. They werenāt against bad teams either. It was against the Dodgers, and the best offense in baseball, the Blue Jays. Add that to his career marks against Seattle (.200 average in 55 at bats with a homer and six RBI), and Doubront could be a really nice bargain tonight.
Honorable Mention:
Tom Koehler,Ā Marlins ($6,500):Ā Koehler has allowed the Phillies only a .228 average in 79 at bats with only one home run. The bad news? They have 13 RBI off of him. Domonic Brown has six of them on his own! He does own 18 strikeouts against the Phillies, so he could recoup some of the lost points.
Stay Away:
Joe Kelly,Ā Red Sox ($6,400):Ā The White Sox have hit .357 off of Kelly in 28 at bats with only four strikeouts. With that many runners on base, the risk is not worth the possible reward here.
