A 10-year-old Ohio State fan expressed his concern that heart surgery would cause him to love the Michigan Wolverines

There is always the worry about negative side effects when someone goes under the knife for surgery. There are numerous complications that can arise from any surgery that will leave even the calmest person worrying. However, 10-year-old heart surgery patient and Ohio State Buckeyes fan Ivan Applin was only concerned with one very particular side effect of his procedure.

Applin is going to be undergoing surgery at the University of Michigan and that raised some concern in his mind. When he was discussing what the doctors would be doing, the Buckeyes fan asked the most important question: would the Michigan doctors make his heart love the Wolverines instead of Ohio State?

Luckily for the young fan, the doctors assured him that he would wake up and be every bit the Buckeyes fan that he was before. That’s a good thing for Applin, because Urban Meyer and Ohio State have some pretty attainable expectations of repeating as National Champions, something the young man surely doesn’t want to miss out on enjoying.

Sometimes fans can get a bit crazy and even take things too far. However, it only takes a 10-year-old heart surgery patient asking the most innocent of question to remind everyone about the purity of being a sports fan.
