Reggie Wayne signed with the New England Patriots this offseason and the Indy Star is none too pleased about this.
Loyalty is a hard thing to find in the world of sports. That’s just a fact of life, as players and teams don’t always see eye-to-eye and they tend to go their separate ways when things get too hard to deal with. That’s not always the most romantic way to treat things, but it’s what some teams and players end up doing — like Reggie Wayne and the Indianapolis Colts.
Wayne was released by the Colts this offseason after a career with the team in which he brought was a part of two Super Bowl teams and was one of Peyton Manning’s best targets in his entire career. That didn’t stop the Colts from cutting him this offseason, which allowed him to move on to sign with the New England Patriots — something that isn’t being well received by loyal fans.
However, Wayne’s ex-Colts teammates and fans seem to be taking his move to New England a little bit better than the local paper is. The Indy Star went all-in on the anti-Reggie Wayne movement on Wednesday with an outrageous approach to the story.
@indystar is this for real??? Did you really just do this? pic.twitter.com/WR3BsxTmB0

This is just fantastic. There were many pundits out there who thought that the signing of Wayne would bolster the Colts-Patriots rivalry to another level — and we were all so right.
From the DeflateGate angle to the rivalry to this major overreaction from the Indy Star, the Colts-Patriots rivalry will never die and this is another major reminder of that.
