Jose Bautista error gives Rangers a inside-the-park home run
By Mike Dyce
An error by Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista gave the Texas Rangers an inside-the-park home run.
The Toronto Blue Jays have been hot during the second half of the season, especially after the splash they made ahead of the trade deadline. In the mean time, the Texas Rangers have been playing well and climbing up the standings as well, which is why their series in Arlington was named the series to watch this week.
With a series between two teams playing as well as they’ve been playing, any error can prove costly. Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista learned this the hard way when he failed to scoop up a grounder from Delino DeShields. Instead it rolled past him and all the way to the warning track.
Mean time two runners made it home and DeShields tried to make it home as well. DeShields beat the throw for a three-run inside-the-park homer.
The Blue Jays would lose the game 4-1, and this play was obviously a big part of giving away the win.
