Louisville fans give up on life after Bobby Petrino timeout (Video)

Louisville lost to Auburn on the most ridiculous series of events that become easily explainable when you realize Bobby Petrino was behind it all.

When Louisville started their first game of the season off with an interception on the first play of the game, we all thought that was going to be the low point in their season. But shame on us all for forgetting the powerful stupidity of Bobby Petrino. After making a comeback to come within one touchdown of the Auburn Tigers, Louisville elf destructed in the most Bobby Petrino way possible.

Louisville fans were so hopeful when it appeared that Louisville was in a position to stop Auburn thanks to a holding penalty that was — at the time — the dumbest decision in the game.

But never doubt the stupidity of Bobby Petrino. In what can only be explained as a side effect of licking lead-dipped paint brushes at halftime, Petrino called his final timeout on third down with under a minute left.

Despite making the stop on third down, the clock was running and the Cardinals had not timeouts to stop the clock with.

Needless to say, fans were not happy about this little act of stupidity that cost the team the chance to possibly tie the game.

One fan was so incensed that he simply stormed off, sans the will to live.

Meanwhile, Guy Faux was telling his friends to remember, remember the Fifth of September.

The real question here — beyond what the hell happened — is why the hell did this happen?

Petrino swears up and down that he was told by the official that there would be a runoff and that a timeout needed to be called to stop the clock from running down. But over the loudspeakers in the stadium, we all clearly heard the official say that there wouldn’t be a runoff because the penalty was against the offense and they can’t benefit from a penalty against them by running off the clock.

There’s also the possibility that Petrino thought he had two timeouts left, which would explain why he called one when he did.

That’s giving the man too much credit, and the only thing that makes sense is that Petrino knew if he didn’t end the game then, he’d have a hard time getting his motorcycle over to Sizzler’s before happy hour ended.
