Oregon was successful in their season opener over Eastern Washington on Saturday night

True to form, the Oregon Ducks showed why they are one of the best offenses in college football. With former Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams at the helm, the Ducks got off to an extremely strong start, scoring 20 points in the first quarter and 17 in the second. Eastern Washington could not keep up, despite scoring 21 points in the first half.

Though Eastern Washington quarterback Jordan West threw for 293 yards, the Eagles had a comparatively poor run game. Oregon, on the other hand, featured a competent performance by Adams and was also able to rely on running back Royce Freeman who rushed for over 180 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Three Stars

The first star is the Eastern Washington offense. Eastern Washington Eagles quarterback Jordan West played an excellent game against a very competitive Oregon team. He was 23-of-34 with three touchdowns and a total of 293 yards. West did not play for the whole game, replaced by Reilly Hennessey who threw for 145 yards, putting the EWU quarterback total yardage at 438. Receiver Cooper Kupp had 15 receptions for 26 yards and three touchdowns.

Former Eastern Washington Eagles quarterback and current Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams proved himself a dual threat, throwing for 246 yards and running for 94 on 14 carries.

Oregon Ducks running back Royce Freeman scored three touchdowns and rushed for 180 yards. Freeman is coming off of a 1,365-yard season in 2014, and if today’s game is any indication, he should have a very productive 2015 season as well.

Odds

The Oregon Ducks were favored by 35 points. They did not beat the spread.

Next Week

Next week, Oregon will have the showdown everyone is waiting for with Michigan State on the road to see if they can move to 2-0. Eastern Washington will look to rebound as they take on Northern Iowa to see if they can get their first win of the season.
