Browns OL coach Andy Moeller has been suspended indefinitely

The Browns have suspended OL coach Andy Moeller indefinitely, according to team representatives.

The team was vague about the details, releasing only this statement per Adam Schefter:

“Andy was involved in an incident, involving allegations that we take very seriously. We have followed our internal protocol, determining that right now it is best for the team and for Andy to take time away from the organization to focus on his personal matters. We are going to respect the process of investigation on this personal matter and will have no further comment at this time.”

Prior to coaching for the Cleveland Browns, a job he took in 2014, he was both an assistant and head offensive line coach with the Baltimore Ravens from 2008-2013. Before his days in the NFL, he coached at various positions for Indiana, Army, Missouri, and Michigan.

Moeller has a history of drunk driving. In 2010 he was arrested for speeding, negligent driving, and driving under the influence in Maryland. In 2011, the Baltimore Ravens suspended him for two games and fined him $47,000 for personal conduct violations stemming from a guilty verdict in his DUI incident.

At the time, per ESPN, Moeller said, “I take total responsibility for my actions, and I’m committed to the programs the Ravens and others have afforded me.”

The suspension comes at an inopportune time for the Browns who face stiff competition in one of the toughest divisions in the league, the AFC North.

Since the Browns have indicated they are letting the investigation unfold, it is unlikely there will be an official statement from the team about the nature of the infractions.

The Browns face off against the New York Jets to open their season on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
