UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor received a hero’s welcome when he returned to Ireland.

Conor McGregor has been away from home for a long time. McGregor went to Las Vegas to train for his fight at UFC 189 against Jose Aldo, and eventually Chad Mendes who filled in for the injured Aldo.

After winning the interim title against Mendes, McGregor went straight into filming the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, extending his stay in the United States.

It all culminated at the “Go Big” press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of UFC 191, McGregor’s final obligation state-side.

UFC Europe shared a video of McGregor’s return to Ireland and the hero’s welcome he received when walking out of the terminal. Numerous fans were waiting for McGregor, snapping photos. The video shows McGregor stopping and taking the time for autographs and photos with the fans, including the airport police officer who is supposed to be protecting him from the crowds.

"Crazy scenes as @TheNotoriousMMA arrives back in Dublin and is mobbed by fans at the airport! https://t.co/WfShRdUaDU— UFC Europe (@UFCEurope) September 7, 2015"

McGregor also tweeted about his return.
