3. Jason Garrett – Dallas Cowboys Head Coach (48-years-old)

Jason Garrett joins Todd Haley and Gus Bradley as the upperclassmen of the list, but he’s still a thriving head coach.

Garrett called a quits on his playing career after 15 years as a quarterback, retired with the Miami Dolphins and immediately joined Nick Saban’s staff as the quarterbacks coach.

Then in 2007, the Dallas Cowboys came calling and made Garrett the offensive coordinator. For years, all we heard was how Garrett was Jerry Jones’ guy and was next in line to be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

That’s part of the reason why it’s hard to imagine Garrett on this list: his name has been publicized for a long time. It isn’t often that average football fans know the name of the offensive coordinator, but even non-Cowboys fans knew who Garrett was.

He sat through three and a half years of the Wade Phillips era in Dallas before taking over as interim head coach in 2010. It wasn’t until last season, though, that the Cowboys really made the jump to Super Bowl contender. Dallas was essentially a Dez Bryant catch away from playing in the NFC Championship game.

If you ask them, they’ll still tell you Bryant caught that ball.

Dallas has arguably the best offensive line in the league, and Tony Romo is still teetering on the fence dividing the average quarterbacks from the superstars.

With DeMarco Murray having moved on with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys will turn to a running back committee consisting of Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar, and the newly acquired Christine Michael.

If the running game can match what it did in 2014, don’t sleep on Garrett leading the Cowboys deep into the playoffs again.
