No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs vs. Vanderbilt Commodores

Nick Chubb and the No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs looked every bit like a team capable of competing for an SEC Championship on their opening Saturday while their week two opponents and fellow SEC foe Vanderbilt Commodores looked far from it. With the two teas having far different trajectories after their respective openers, they meet up on Saturday in Vanderbilt Stadium.

Keys to Victory

As will be the case for the rest of the 2015 college football season for the Bulldogs, the key in this game will to get Nick Chubb and Keith Marshall rolling in their rushing attack. Chubb carried the ball 16 times for 120 yards in their opener while Marshall notched 10 carries for 73 yards. Both players found the end zone twice apiece. Greyson Lambert was solid at quarterback for the Dawgs last week as well, but the success of the running game allowed him to manage the game which is the role he likely feels most comfortable in right now with little experience. After a nice performance last week from the defense, though, you have to expect the UGA defense will see a bit more talent and be tested a bit more this season.

For the Commodores, it almost goes without saying that they have to be better than they were in their loss to Western Kentucky. Specifically, Vandy has to be sure that they don’t give the ball away versus Georgia as they did again the Hilltoppers. Though they didn’t lead to any scoring drives for Western Kentucky, the Commodores coughed the ball up three times last week. Against a tea like Georgia, that’s a death sentence. Getting Ralph Webb loose is also crucial to success for Vandy. Without their star running back producing on the ground, an upset isn’t going to happen in Nashville.

Prediction

This game should be one that gets college football fans excited about this season in the SEC, but that’s difficult with Vanderbilt suffering that week on loss to the Hilltoppers. In the end, Georgia is going to be able to create even more problems for the Commodores and cruise to victory.

Final Score: Georgia Bulldogs: 45, Vanderbilt Commodores: 13
