Appalachian State Mountaineers vs. No. 15 Clemson Tigers
Clemson finished week one with a big 49-10 victory over W0fford at home and no one was really all that surprised by the blowout. Deshaun Watson had a solid game for the Tigers, completing 18-of-22 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns, showing that his freshman season was no fluke.
The big story line from the week one win was Mike Williams’ apparent neck injury that caused him to be carted off the field for the Tigers after catching a touchdown pass and crashing into the goal post. He is expected to miss significant time and Artavis Scott and Ray-Ray McCloud will be counted on big-time to replace the top pass-catcher.
Appalachian State is one of the newest FBS teams out there, and the Mountaineers are still adjusting to life at the big boys’ level. Although they did take down FCS foe Howard in week one, 49-0, the Mountaineers know that week two won’t be so simple as Clemson presents a tough test on both sides of the ball.
Taylor Lamb will need to have a big day through the air, but it may not be the smartest idea to test the daunting Tigers’ secondary.
