No. 22 Arizona Wildcats vs. Nevada Wolf Pack

Anu Solomon’s freshman year performance at quarterback for the Arizona Wildcats is one that’s going to be very difficult to top as he was one of the top quarterbacks in the Pac-12 and the future looked very bright for the young gunslinger.

In the first contest of the season, Solomon passed for 229 yards and four touchdowns while completing 22-of-36 passes and protecting the ball nicely. Johnny Jackson seemed to be his favorite target in game one, catching eight passes for 101 yards and a touchdown — Solomon found four different receivers for a TD. Nick Wilson struggled to get going, however, finishing with just 97 rush yards on 4.4 yards per touch.

Arizona was out-gained yardage-wise and it seemed like they were the underdog in their week one victory as they snuck by UTSA — but not before losing All-American linebacker Scooby Wright.

Nevada is relying on a relatively unproven quarterback in Tyler Stewart as he was 13-for-20 for 163 yards and a touchdown in a slim win over UC Davis — he will need to be much better in order to take down the Wildcats.

Don Jackson was the real star for the Wolf Pack as he led the team in rushing with 124 yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries. If Arizona wants to preserve another early-season win, it’ll need to slow down this talented back.
