ESPN’s Desmond Howard destroys SEC (Video)
ESPN college football analyst Desmond Howard sounded off on the SEC
Desmond Howard has no problem speaking his mind when he’s on the set of ESPN’s College Gameday. The former college football star carries years of experience both on the field and behind a desk into his role as an analyst. Bringing all of that to the table, Howard was unimpressed with the SEC’s performance in the second week of college football action.
The Auburn Tigers were the first SEC team to struggle, needing two separate comebacks and overtime to knock off Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Saturday. Then, the Toledo Rockets knocked off the Arkansas Razorbacks later in the afternoon. After this, Howard had this to say on Twitter:
Tell them how you really feel, Desmond.
It’s worth noting that Howard played his college ball for the Michigan Wolverines, members of the Big Ten. Subsequently, he has no love for the SEC stemming from ever being a part of it. Essentially, it makes him a bit more of an impartial voice on the matter than others covering college football for ESPN.
There’s no denying the top-tier talent in the SEC, but Saturday definitely wasn’t a banner day for the conference. We’ll see if Howard’s words continue to ring true as they season wears on or if the SEC picks themselves up after stumbling in week two of action.
