Florida fan spreads ashes at statue of Tim Tebow
The statue of Tim Tebow in Gainesville is where one Florida Gators fan elected to spread some ashes.
Tim Tebow is not an NFL quarterback for the time being. However, Tebow will always be mentioned in tones of exaltation when it comes to the Florida Gators and college football. That’s what winning two national championships and capturing the Heisman Trophy will do for you in the eyes of Gators fans.
However, one Florida fan took loving Tim Tebow and Florida football to a new level on Saturday. At the feet of the statue erected to honor Tebow outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, this unknown fan spread someone’s ashes.
There are so many questions about this. Was this actually the deceased person’s wish: to have their ashes scattered at the feet of a Tim Tebow statue? Or was this someone having entirely too much fun at a tailgate and thinking that scattering their friend’s/family member’s ashes at the statue would be for the best? These are the answers we need.
Fans will always be doing crazy things. It’s one of the things that makes sports such a wonderful and polarizing arena. That being said, this tops the charts in terms of sheer weirdness.
May the departed rest in peace under the merciful watch of Tebow.
