Idaho Vandals vs. No. 8 USC Trojans

The Trojans begin the season with some of their highest expectations in recent memory — probably since Matt Barkley was the quarterback. Speaking of quarterbacks, Cody Kessler may be a frontrunner to win the Heisman Trophy while having some of the most talented and athletic targets to throw to.

Kessler looked solid in a week one win, completing 19-of-26 passes for 236 yards and four touchdowns as JuJu Smith was his favorite target, accounting for 89 yards and a touchdown on four receptions — including a long 61-yard score. As for the run game, Tre Madden is the Trojans’ top rusher who finished the first game of the year with 106 yards and a TD on 12 carries.

Defensively, the Trojans really struggled in week one and that might end up being their Achilles heel for the remainder of the year seeing as the offense is electric.

Idaho might be one of worst teams the Trojans will play this season as the Vandals have won just three games in the past three years, averaging about one per season.

Quarterback Matt Linehan was a bit over-used in the Vandals’ week one loss to Ohio, passing the ball 48 times and completing 36 of those attempts for 297 yards, a touchdown and two picks.

Idaho’s run game just won’t cut it against the Trojans, but if Linehan can find Dezmon Epps as much as he did last week, 15 times for 160 yards, the Vandals won’t get completely shut out.
