Johnny Manziel came into the game looking great, but the second half has been another story
Johnny Manziel replaced an injured Josh McCown at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in their Week One matchup with the New York Jets and it didn’t take him long to make an impact. On his first drive of the day, Manziel threw a 54-yard touchdown pass. However, the second half has been far less of a fairy tale for Manziel.
On the Browns first drive after halftime, Manziel threw an interception that wasn’t awful but was still an interception nonetheless. His third drive of the second half, however, held a much more egregious error. Manziel was trying to keep a play alive with his feet and started to scramble. In doing so, he forgot to get the ball tucked away, got popped, and coughed up the ball for a fumble that was recovered by the Jets:
That’s the story with Manziel and why his brief NFL career to this point hasn’t exactly played out as planned. He can make big plays for your football team, but he’s often reckless with the ball and that can lead to costly turnovers. Maybe it’ll get better, but it’s quite clearly still an issue looking at this fumble from Week One.
