Man commits suicide in Buffalo Bills tailgating lot prior to season opener

A man committed suicide outside of Ralph Wilson Stadium on Saturday evening.


A man committed suicide in the RV tailgating lot outside of Ralph Wilson Stadium on Saturday night. According to WIVB, police responded to calls from the lot at approximately 10:20 p.m. Upon arrival, officials found the victim alive, but with a gunshot wound to the head. Despite resuscitation attempts, the individual would die on the scene.

After working the scene, police deemed the official cause of death suicide and ruled out any foul play. They also ruled the death an isolated incident.

Below is a news report fromWIVB, which includes video from a visibly distraught police spokesman. According to the department, cases of this nature are not usually discussed in a public manner; however, given the timing and location of the man’s death officials decided to address the public.

The RV lot was open prior to Sunday’s game, and tailgating commenced as previously planned. As of post the man’s name has not been released. According to Syracuse.com, the individual was a middle-aged man hailing from Western New York.
