According to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure, Julio Jones was held out of practice today, listed on the injury report with a hamstring issue.

Jones could likely miss a few practices, possibly be a game-time decision for Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week was on the Falcons injury report with a hamstring issue.
Jones had nine receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns in Atlanta’s 26-24 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. The Atlanta Falcons’ top receiving option is now being paid like a top-five receiver with his new five-year, $71.25 million contract extension signed before Week 3 in the preseason against the Miami Dolphins.

No doubt Jones is in the upper tier of wide receivers in the NFL, but injury concerns have been a part of Jones’ resume. He has twice had to have a screw put into his foot, once at Alabama and once with the Falcons in 2013. Should Atlanta be worried about the health of its franchise wideout?
According to McClure, he believes that through Quinn’s tone in Wednesday’s press conference that Jones could be a participant in practice this week, or at least on Sunday when the Falcons take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
From what Dan Quinn said, it sounded like Julio would be ready to go the rest of the week, or at least game day.

Expect for Atlanta to handle Jones’ hamstring issue with precaution. This is now the fourth hamstring injury to happen to an offensive weapon for the Falcons. Atlanta had three running backs all go down with this injury during the preseason. At least with Jones’ it happened in a regular season game and not in a glorified exhibition.
If Quinn doesn’t seem overly concerned about Jones’ injury, then maybe it isn’t as serious as the ones suffered by Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman and Antone Smith. However, a lingering hamstring issue might affect Jones’ numbers in Week 2. He most likely will play, but this is an injury to keep an eye on for Falcons fans and fantasy football players.
