Travis Kelce gave one what might end up being the most memorable TD celebration of the year on Sunday, but where did it come from?

Very few players in the NFL had a better Week 1 than Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. In Kansas City’s 27-20 win over the Houston Texans to start the season, Kelce caught six balls for 106 yards with two touchdowns. However, for as great as those numbers are, that’s not what most people remember about Kelce’s performance.

No, what people remember the most about Kelce from this past Sunday is the awesome celebration that he pulled off while strutting his way into the end zone, which culminated in him punching the ball with such force that you can tell how fired up he was he got the six points for his team on that play.

Remember this?

Well, some people have been wondering where exactly this celebration came from. The man himself has now spoken a bit about that to shed some light.

In an interview with the NFL Network, Kelce admitted that he got the idea for this from the Donkey Kong character in Super Smash Bros.

“I got the actual move from Super Smash Bros.,” he said. “Donkey Kong had the original Fist of Zeus.”

In all honesty, it doesn’t really matter where he got it from, because it’s just so awesome that we would have been OK never really finding out. But, it’s an interesting little tidbit to know nonetheless.
