Baltimore traveled to Oakland hoping for an easy win, but the Raiders proved to be the superior team.

26. Final. 37. 28. 33

After an unfortunate performance in a week one loss, Joe Flacco led a much more impressive offense, but the result was the same for the Baltimore Ravens as they fell to the Oakland Raiders, 37-33. The veteran quarterback passed for nearly 400 yards and the offense was clicking on all cylinders, but the defense couldn’t stop anything.

The Ravens gave up about 440 total yards and the secondary struggled mightily against the Raiders. Derek Carr got to do basically anything he wanted as Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree broke out as the top receivers and the Raiders looked like one of the better young teams in the league.

Oakland might have just earned itself on the NFL‘s radar after this huge road win and the Ravens have soul-searching to do.

Three stars

Derek Carr was an absolute stud for the Raiders, completing 30-of-46 passes for 356 yards and three touchdowns, earning the top spot in this game.

Joe Flacco comes in as the No. 2 star after a solid game. He passed for 384 yards and two touchdowns, but threw a costly interceptions.

Although Michael Crabtree had more receptions and two more yards, Amari Cooper broke out in his second NFL game. He finished with seven catches for 109 yards and a score.

Highlights

Odds

The Ravens were 4.5-point favorites in this one, so if you picked the Raiders, you have to be pretty happy.

Next week

Baltimore will head home to face divisional foe Cincinnati in a big week three battle which could give either team a leg up in the AFC North. The Ravens will be looking to win in their season opener as they had hit the road for the first two games of the season, posting a 1-1 record.

Oakland will be playing its first road game of the season as the Raiders will travel to the Midwest to take on the Cleveland Browns. These two teams aren’t divisional rivals, but this will really tell us how good, or bad, these two squads really are after sub-par starts to both seasons.
