Presidential hopeful Donald Trump goes on the record in his support of Joe Flacco as an elite NFL quarterback.
During the course of debate, presidential candidates come under fire from many point and many angles, From foreign policy to immigration, taxes to healthcare, those vying for the nation’s top office are often put through the ringers by moderators and the public alike. Every vote hangs in the balance with one wrong answer potentially costing a candidate the oval office.
Take for instance Monday’s #AskTrump questionaire, where presidential hopeful Donald Trump fielded a number of questions from Twitter users. The Q&A was meant to be a town hall type affair, but as one would imagine, it quickly devolved into luminary questions about nail polish, condom use, and hot dogs.
However, one question hit a little close to home for this little digital rag and Trump’s answer certainly peaked out interest a bit. The question, “Is Joe Flacco an elite quarterback” from Twitter user @HighSock_Sunday.
As you can guess from such a great question, the answer was just as equally thoughtful. According to Mr. Trump, the qualifications for an elite quarterback are:
1.) A Super Bowl ring.
2.) A great arm.
Well, I’m sure that answer puts the debate to rest for all-time now. Mr. Flacco is certainly a solid performer, having been among the top quarterbacks over the last several seasons. But elite?
Of course, that also means that there are other quarterbacks that could have been considered elite. Everyone remembers Mark Rypien as an elite quarterback right? How about Jim McMahon? Trent Dilfer? Brad Johnson? Or maybe even everyone’s favorite, Jeff Hostetler?
Yup, it’s probably safe to say that Mr. Trump should stick to something he knows a little bit more about. At the very least, he should have relied on another solid political strategy; sidestepping the tough questions.
