The Indianapolis Colts are losing to the New York Jets in the first half of their Monday Night Football game at Lucas Oil Stadium, and things are going from bad to much worse. Just before the two-minute warning, star cornerback Vontae Davis attempted to tackle running back Bilal Powell and stayed down afterward before being taken to the locker room.
On the ESPN broadcast, there was speculation that Davis was going to be evaluated for a concussion, and that seems to be the right analysis. Davis led with his head on the tackle and hit Powell in the shoulder/back area, jolting his head upward before falling to the turf. Davis laid face down for a minute or so, with movement, before the training staff took the corner inside.

If the Colts are without Davis for any amount of time, they are in major trouble. Indianapolis is already without its second, third and fourth corners with Greg Toler, Darius Butler and D’jorn Smith all on the injury report and inactive. Smith will not be back until November, having been placed on Injured Reserve – Designated to Return.
Davis is without question the best corner on the Colts. Last year, Davis made the Pro Bowl for the first time and played like a top-five defensive back, locking down top receivers on a weekly basis. In the playoffs, Davis was able to shut down Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional round, helping the Colts pull off the shocking upset.
