4. Cincinnati Bengals

Before I say anything else, I do realize that the Baltimore Ravens lost to the Raiders in Week Two. That fact is not lost on me and it certainly doesn’t instill a great deal of confidence in the Ravens against the Cincinnati Bengals and going forward.

What makes this matchup so hard to peg is the fact that both teams have the makings to be maddeningly inconsistent. For Baltimore, we’ve seen guys like Joe Flacco and Justin Forsett succeed for this team, but they’ve been up-and-down so far this year. Moreover, Andy Dalton is still Andy Dalton, which Bengals fans can attest to being a rollercoaster of emotions. However, it suffices to say that the Cincy offense has been far more inspiring than the Ravens’ to this point.

On the defensive side of the ball, it’s also advantage Bengals. With Terrell Suggs out for Baltimore, they are relying so heavily on their secondary to defend the pass. While they have a talented secondary, that’s a tight rope to tread in the NFL, especially up against the likes of A.J. Green.

So why am I saying that the Bengals are on upset alert if they have the advantage on both sides of the ball? Quite simply, I don’t trust Dalton or the Bengals in general, even if he and the rest of the team have been rock solid through the first two weeks of the season. As I’ve said before, the likelihood of the Bengals folding in a game they should have an advantage in almost always puts them on upset alert.
