ESPN packed up the bus for its traveling roadshow and took the College GameDay gang far out West. Not quite Californi way, but dern near close, to Tucson, Arizona for Saturday’s banner Pac-12 matchup between the No. 9 UCLA Bruins and No. 16 Arizona Wildcats.
UCLA enters the contest ready to put the Pac-12 South on notice early in the season. Rival USC – the division’s preseason favorite – lost last week, effectively giving the Bruins a leg up on the championship game. Freshman Jake Rosen has been as advertised and then some. The young gunslinger has played at another level thus far on the year, and is the early favorite for Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year. However, they will be forced to adjust to life without Myles Jack, who is out for the year.
As for home Arizona, the Wildcats are looking to prove that they’re more substance than flash. Arizona won a number of games last year in thrilling fashion, lending some members of the media to label them a one-hit wonder.
With all-everything linebacker Scooby Wright expected to return for the game, the College GameDay sign game was off the chain. Here’s a sampling of what was going down in the Zona Zoo.
