Syracuse faked a field goal, and then things got weird.

Syracuse decided to run a fake field goal late in the first half against LSU, and then things got a wee bit strange. Let’s take a look at the play before breaking it down.

Okay, first off: the sheer irony of a team running a fake field goal against LSU is gold. To upset a Hatter, one must think like the Mad man.

Secondly: what a wonderful effort on the hurdle. Unfortunately, it ended up looking more like a back body drop – with a shoulder right to the ol’ groin region.

Nice dive on the followthrough by LSU – the Dudley Boyz would be proud.

Third off, that’s a wonderfully ambiguous celebration. Was he going for the punch or the fist pump? Probably depends which side you’re rooting for. LSU did a nice sell after getting knocked in the head, but refs didn’t take the bait.

Unfortunately for Syracuse, they couldn’t carry any momentum from the play whatsoever. The Orange failed to find the end zone and then missed a 31-yard field goal to end the half.

LSU went into the break leading Syracuse, 7-3.
