No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Trevone Boykin is one of the best quarterbacks in the country for 2015 and he will likely have a big day Saturday against a very average, at best, Texas Tech defense. Boykin is having a solid season thus far for the Horned Frogs, leading TCU to a 3-0 record and No. 3-ranking behind his 985 yards and 10 touchdowns through the air as well as his 148 rushing yards and two scores.

Boykin will have no problem succeeding against the Red Raiders, but the run game, led by Aaron Green, could be the real key. With a slim lead late in the game, the Horned Frogs will be looked upon to run the ball, chew the clock and ice the game. Texas Tech gives up 260 rushing yards per game, which is great news for Green and Boykin.

As for Texas Tech, the Horned Frogs likely have the best defense it has faced thus far. Sophomore quarterback Patrick Mahomes has also been great through three games, passing for 1,029 yards and nine touchdowns with three picks. He had a solid finish to the 2014 season, earning him the starting job over Davis Webb.

If the pass game struggles, DeAndre Washington will be relied on to get the job done on the ground. The senior running back is looking to duplicate his 2014 performance in which he rushed for over 1,000 yards, and he’s currently on pace to do so. Washington has 36 rushes for 287 yards this season and he could be the X-factor for the Red Raiders.
