Texas A&M vs Arkansas: Full highlights, final score and more
The Texas A&M Aggies mounted a thrilling comeback to defeat the Arkansas Razorbacks 28-21 in the 2015 Southwest Classic.
The Texas A&M Aggies looked down for the count as the clock winded down in the fourth quarter, but Kevin Sumlin’s squad mounted a thrilling comeback to defeat the Arkansas Razorbacks in overtime for the second consecutive year.
The Aggies struggled with physicality all game long, as their defensive front was pushed around by the Razorbacks’ massive offensive line. Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen was able to stand in the pocket and deliver throws with little pressure for the majority of the game, while the Razorbacks’ rushing attack allowed them to control the clock.
The turning point in the game appeared to be back-to-back goal line stands by the Arkansas defense, which led to 14 unanswered points. Texas A&M stormed back, however.
Facing an eight-point deficit late in the fourth quarter, sophomore quarterback Kyle Allen connected on a 63-yard bomb to Josh Reynolds to set the Aggies up inside the Arkansas 10-yard line. Tra Carson punched the ball in at the goal line, and Reynolds hauled in another catch for the game-tying two-point conversion.
The nation’s sack leader Myles Garrett picked up his first sack of the game on the following drive, forcing a fumble and giving the Aggies the ball near midfield. A roughing the passer call set Texas A&M up in field goal position, and Taylor Bertolet took the field to attempt a 38-yard game-winner.
Bertolet missed wide-right, sending the game to overtime.
Allen connected with Christian Kirk for a 20-yard touchdown pass, and the Aggies would shut down the Razorbacks during their only possession of overtime, pulling out a thrilling victory.
