Tom Brady throws 400th touchdown pass (Video)
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has joined another exclusive club, throwing his 400th career touchdown pass on Sunday afternoon. Brady entered Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Gillette Stadium sitting on 399, and hit Danny Amendola in the second quarter to reach the milestone. The only other quarterbacks to reach that mark are Brett Favre, Dan Marino and Peyton Manning.
It is a typical throw by Brady, who scanned the field and found Edelman virtually uncovered in the end zone. Brady threw his first touchdown pass back in 2001, during his second year with the Patriots. Brady went on to win the Super Bowl that year and three more in subsequent seasons, with three coming in heart-stopping fashion. Brady began his career as more of a game manager than anything else, allowing a punishing ground game and terrific defense to lead the way. In fact, Brady did not throw for more than 28 touchdowns in a single season until 2007, when he tossed 50, an NFL record at the time.

What changed from the early years? The trades for Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Head coach Bill Belichick went from a run-first attack to a spread out style, accentuated with the additions of Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez in later years. After 2007, Brady has never thrown for less than 25 touchdowns in a given season, save the year Brady blew his ACL out in 2008.
