Chris Cooley trying out with Giants
The New York Giants are looking to upgrade the tight end position and are apparently searching high and low. On Monday, it was reported by ESPN 980 out of Washington that former National Football League tight end Chris Cooley will be trying out for the Giants.
New York is currently starting Larry Donnell at the position, who is certainly more of a blocking and second man on the depth chart. Donnell can make the occasional play, but through three games this season has only 10 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.

In his career, Cooley amassed 429 yards and 4,711 receiving yards with 33 touchdowns. One of the better tight ends of the past decade, Cooley was always know for his sure hands and the ability to make a play after the catch. Cooley has not played since 2012, when he retired following an NFC East title.
The Giants need all the offensive firepower they can muster with a very suspect defense on the sideline. New York allowed 28 points to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 before blowing a late Week 2 lead against the Atlanta Falcons.
Currently, Eli Manning has a true superstar in Odell Beckham Jr. on the outside, and is getting Victor Cruz back in Week 4. Cruz has been out since the middle of last season with a torn patellar tendon that he sustained on Sunday Night Football in Philadelphia. If Manning can find the fountain of youth in Cooley, head coach Tom Coughlin would be doing cartwheels up and down the turf in MetLife Stadium.
