Wide receiver is known as one of the deepest positions in fantasy football, but getting the right waiver wire wide receivers can be tricky sometimes because there is a great deal of volatility at the position from week to week.  To help you get just the right fit for your team, check out my top 10 waiver wire wide receivers on the following slides who deserve consideration if you need to reinforce your receiving corps with bye weeks on the horizon.

When considering wide receivers, one thing to definitely pay close attention to is the amount of opportunity each receiver is getting.  One very useful stat that you’ll hear thrown around is “targets” which are the amount of passes thrown to the receiver.  Even the best receiver can’t produce fantasy football value if they don’t have opportunity, so make sure to try and find players who are getting consistent targets even if their catches are a little erratic.

Another term fantasy football owners or experts use is “PPR.” PPR stands for point-per-reception and refers to the league scoring system.  Some leagues reward a point for every catch a receiver makes.  To correctly evaluate receivers, you have to understand whether your league is PPR, non-PPR, or the new half-way option where leagues awards a half-point for each reception.  Players like Jarvis Landry and Julian Edelman are even more valuable in PPR style leagues since they get a high volume of catches.

For each of the top ten wavier wire wide receivers on the following slides, I’ve broken down their targets and catches so far this season as well as their potential going forward.  All 10 are currently available in more than 50% of ESPN leagues (ownership percentages in parentheses as of Wednesday morning).  They are listed in the general order I would look to pick them up, but every league and team needs are slightly different.

If you have specific questions about your roster, I’m available on Twitter @FansidedFantasy where I’ll be happy to answer as many questions as I can.  To keep up with all our ongoing fantasy football coverage, drop a bookmark on our fantasy football hub where you can find updates throughout the week and the rest of the season.
