The Baltimore Ravens are already without a litany of stars, and now they can add wide receiver Steve Smith to the list. Smith was hurt with an apparent lower body injury in the third quarter and has not returned to the contest.

Smith caught a pass near the sideline and was hit by two Steelers defenders before getting driven out of bounds. Smith then stood up before going back to the turf before medical personnel came out onto the field. Smith is now on the sideline after being checked out and is riding a stationary bike.

Smith, 36, is in his last year. The future Hall of Fame receiver announced that he would retire at the conclusion of this season, despite still being one of the more productive receivers in the game. Smith went for more than 1,000 yards last year and played well in the playoffs, scoring two touchdowns against Darrelle Revis and the New England Patriots in the AFC Divisonal game.

Baltimore can’t have another key injury. The Ravens are dealing with rookie receiver Breshad Perriman on the shelf, who has not been able to practice throughout the summer and into the season with a nagging knee/hamstring injury. The offense is also functioning without left tackle Eugene Monroe, who is trying to recover from a concussion he sustained in Week 1.

Defensively, the Ravens are searching for answers with both defensive lineman Chris Canty and All-Pro outside linebacker Terrell Suggs out. Suggs is the major loss, having torn his Achilles tendon in the season-opener against the Denver Broncos.
