No. 22 Michigan Wolverines vs. Maryland Terrapins
Who would have thought the Jim Harbaugh era would have gotten off to this kind of start as the Michigan Wolverines are 3-1 heading into conference play and ranked No. 22 in the nation after a blowout win over ranked BYU? Not me and probably not anyone outside of Ann Arbor.
Michigan has been doing all of this with average quarterback play from Iowa-transfer Jake Rudock. The first-year QB has passed for 776 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions. It’s never good to have a touchdown-interception ratio under one, but his team’s defense and run game has made up for it.
The Wolverines allow just over 200 total yards per game with just 82 of those coming on the ground. Michigan has one of the best defenses in the nation.
Maryland has struggled a bit this season, sitting at 2-2 and coming off a blowout loss on the road against West Virginia last week. The Terrapins also lost by three touchdowns to Bowling Green three weeks ago and it’s starting to look like this team is a Big Ten bottom-dweller.
Caleb Rowe is in his first year as the starting quarterback and he’s coming off the worst start of his young career, passing for 67 yards on 10-of-27 completions with four interceptions. He will have yet another tough test against a stingy Michigan defense this week.
